How do I send a letter via express service?
Q. Okay I know this question must sound absolutely ridiculous but to be honest I've never really sent a letter before since I've always relied on emailing. Anyways I'm sending a court letter that needs to arrive before the 5th, so I'm using USPS and express mail so it'll be there on the 4th. However how exactly do I go through the procedure? Do I still need to use stamps? Or do I just take the letter to the post office and purchase the express mail option from there and they mark the letter as express?

A. If you have a printer hooked up to your computer, just go to USPS.com and you can print off postage there. You more than likely will have to start an account (free). Or the other option is just go down to your local post office and walk up to the counter and tell the person at the counter that you need to send an express letter and they will be able to set it all up for you. They will even provide you the envelope or package that you need. I do it all the time.

How to write a cover letter to study law at university?
Q. Hi everyone, i live in France but have to write a cover letter in english in order to be able to study law as i will study english and american law among other things. How should i write it ? How many paragraphs, what should i write in each paragraph ? What should the first and last line of my letter be ? What phrases are mandatory in a letter written in english ? I am trying to get a french university to make me one of its students.

A. The more appropriate form begins more formally: Dear Sir or Madam: Never use the / mark and use: rather than, after the salutation in a formal letter. I have given the USA usage. The British usage may be different. As you can see, words similar to the very formal French complimentary close are not used in either British or USA English style. You only need one pargraph for your cover letter. Just state that you wish to apply for the xxx program and what documents, if any, you are enclosing. If you can apply online, you will not need a cover letter. In both British and USA English the names of languages and adjectives describing countries are capitalized even though they are not capitalized in French. I is always capitalized even… [cont.]

How would one write a letter to the editor over anti illegal Immigration without sounding like a racist?
Q. If you were to write a 250 word letter to your paper over anti(It would a letter to the editor against the illegals and all of their freebies, states that have taken law and made it tougher for illegals there) illegal Immigration , how could you do it and not sound like a racist, yet get people's attention to this growing problem? Any ideas? The letter would have to apply to all sorts of communities and cities.

Speak about laws, money, financial strains, effects on schools and education, deportation policies, Congressional actions (or lack of), etc. As long as you do not mention or target specific nationalities, language groups, ethnicities, or races it will be fine. Keep it to the point - its a legal and civil concern.
