A web browser is a software application for retrieving, presenting, and traversing information resources on the World Wide Web. An information resource is identified by a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and may be a web page, image, video, or other piece of content. Hyperlinks present in resources enable users to easily navigate their browsers to related resources. Although browsers primarily intended to access the World Wide Web, they can also be used to access information provided by web servers in private networks or content in file systems. I have installed Fedora 5 in text mode. I have a Linux book and am trying to slowly learn linux. So from the console, or command line, how do I run a web browser. Also how do I run the X Windows System? Asked by twoskinsoneman - Thu Oct 9 11:17:26 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. If you installed in text mode, maybe you didn't install X. You probably have a text mode browser. Try lynx or elinks. If the startx command doesn't work, try "yum install x-window-system". By the way, Fedora 5 is old. The current version of Fedora is 9. Answered by Bill M - Thu Oct 9 11:43:37 2008 What causes your web browser to pop up so many times? Q. I found that I acidently clicked on something and it caused the web browser to pop up so many times it wouldn't stop. No it didn't have to do with a joke site because I am aware that sites like that cause it. Please explain your answer in full details and if you can post a web site reference to your response that would be good also. I didn't click on it on purpose for it to pop up. It happens by accident. I am really looking for more serious answers thanks. I am looking for an explanation not software thanks.
