From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. The Republic of Kenya is a country in East Africa. Lying along the Indian Ocean, at the equator, Kenya is bordered by Ethiopia (north), Somalia (northeast), Tanzania (south), Uganda plus Lake Victoria (west), and Sudan (northwest). The capital city is Nairobi. Kenya spans an area about 85% the size of France or Texas. The population has grown rapidly in recent decades to nearly 38 million. Kenya has numerous wildlife reserves, containing thousands of animal species. The country is named after Mount Kenya, a significant landmark and the second among the highest mountain peaks of Africa, and both were originally usually pronounced /ˈkiːnjə/ in English, though the native pronunciation and the one intended by the original transcription Kenia was [ˈkɛnja]. During the presidency of Jomo Kenyatta in the 1960s, the current English pronunciation of /ˈkɛnjə/ became widespread because his name retained the native pronunciation. Before 1920, the area now known as Kenya was known as the British East Africa Protectorate and so there was no need to mention mount when referring to the mountain. HistoryFrom Wikipedia under the

Answered by Jayne says READ MORE BOOKS - Thu Nov 29 05:17:00 2007 How safe is Kenya for foreign residents? Q. One of my friends recently moved there with her husband- she tells me that she just has to stay in a compound all day, and can't go out for fear of being mugged. Compound has an electric fence and armed guards, about 48 foreign families live there. Does this reflect the real dangers of living in Kenya, or is it overkill? Asked by Buzzard - Sun Nov 4 04:48:22 2007 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments A. There are alot of foreigners who live in Kenya and there are also alot of Italian Kenyans and Briton Kenyans who were born in Kenya and have integrated into society. Your friend has some psychological issues, 1st of all, White Kenyans or europeans living in Kenya are less targeted when it comes to robbing, usually its the upper class Kenyans who are mugged because what happens is that the foreigners sometimes isolate themselves from the communities so the people including the thieves tend to be scared of foreigners and most would not dare mug them because of superstition, rumors, e.t.c also, I find that alot of missionaries especially americans are extremely scared of crime alot more than europeans and asians. That is why they tend to live… [cont.] Answered by Teenage Guru - Sun Nov 4 16:34:12 2007 How can I get seeds for WHITE-blossoming Selenicereus grandiflorus sent to me in England or Kenya, please?
Q. In the USA the natural habitat of this climbing cactus seems to be only on the east coast of Florida. It usually grows up trees. If there are seed-exchanging groups who could help me, I'd really appreciate it. Perhaps there is a member of a cactus specialty group who could respond. It would be very difficult for me to receive either seeds or cuttings in Kenya, because of the bureaucracy here. It would not be illegal to send or receive them here, but the bureaucrats would want to go through all sorts of red tape, if it were cuttings that were being sent. Indeed, if it were seeds and the bureaucrats detected them in the envelope, the red tape would start spooling out, too. However, if seeds or cuttings could be sent to my address in… [cont.] Asked by Phillip W - Sat Oct 21 17:58:56 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. actually found it on E-bay.
