Aerospace comprises the atmosphere of Earth and surrounding space. Typically the term is used to refer to the industry that researches, designs, manufactures, operates, and maintains vehicles moving through air and space. Aerospace is a very diverse field, with a multitude of commercial, industrial and military applications. Q. I do stress analysis on aerospace structures (fiber reinforced composite materials). I was wondering, when I get laid off several years from now due to the instability of my industry, how likely am I able to get into the civil engineering field? Someday I would like to design bridges and other civil structures. Steel reinforced concrete structures seem similar to graphite reinforced epoxy structures, which is the material I have expertise in.
