The concept of personhood (who is a person within a society) is the fundamental component of any selective concept of people. A distinction is maintained in philosophy and law between the notions "human being", or "man", and "person". The former refers to the species, while the latter refers to a rational agent (see, for example, John Locke's Essay concerning Human Understanding II 27 and Immanuel Kant's Introduction to the Metaphysic of Morals). Central issues of interest to people are the understanding of the human condition and the meaning of life, and survival. Religion, philosophy, and science show or represent modes and aspects of inquiry which attempt to investigate and understand the nature, behavior, and purpose of people. Sociology, economics, and politics represent modes by which people investigate how to maximize a collective survival strategy. Islam recognizes the People of the Book as members of monotheistic faiths founded upon revelation related to its own faith. By contrast, in Judaism, the Jews are often said to be the chosen people, a concept modified by the Christian doctrine of the Elect. From Wikipedia under the

Q. I find alot of people judge islam and muslim people when they don't even know what islam is. The media sends out negative messages of islam being a violent faith how can people judge when they don't know what the islamic teaching is. And they don't realise that islam is probably the only religion that is most anti-war and anti-crime. Its very irritating knowing thatso many people have fallen for the media's lies. That's a classic case of dehumanising an entire group of people. Answered by sam - Wed Jul 8 11:49:07 2009 How many people are off the planet at one time?
Q. What do you reckon... the average number of people/ % pf people who are flying somewhere across the planet at any given instant? I just wanna know what kinda numbers of our population are not on the planet that they live upon at any give time... How many people are not on this planet every second of the day? Asked by Icarus - Sun Sep 17 16:45:18 2006 - - 4 Answers - 1 Comments A. An infinitesimal fraction, actually. If there were 10,000 aircraft airborne at any given moment (probably a bit high) and each had a average of 250 people on board, that would be 2.5 million people. With about 5 billion inhabitants, that would only be 5 one-hundredths of 1 percent (0.05%) of the Earth's population in the air at one time. Here's a sobering thought: If all 10,000 of those aircraft were blown up by terrorists at the same instant, we'd never notice the population drop looking at it from a global perspective. The loss in population would be recovered in less than 2 weeks. Answered by Bostonian In MO - Sun Sep 17 17:01:06 2006 From Yahoo Answer Search: "People" Quotes about people Sourced
