Extraterrestrial life is defined as life which does not originate from planet Earth. The existence of life outside the planet is theoretical and all assertions of such life remain disputed.

Hypotheses regarding the origin(s) of extraterrestrial life, if it exists, are as follows: one proposes that it may have emerged, independently, from different places in the universe. An alternative hypothesis is panspermia or exogenesis, which holds that life emerges from one location, then spreads between habitable planets. These two hypotheses are not mutually exclusive. The study and theorization of extraterrestrial life is known as astrobiology, exobiology or xenobiology. Speculated forms of extraterrestrial life range from life with the simplicity of bacteria to sapient or sentient beings.

Suggested locations which might have once developed, or presently continue to host life similar to our own, include the planets Venus and Mars, moons of Jupiter and Saturn (e.g. Europa, Enceladus and Titan) and Gliese 581 c and d, recently discovered to be near Earth-mass extrasolar planets apparently located in their star's habitable zone, and with the potential to have liquid water.

To date, no credible evidence of extraterrestrial life has been discovered which has been generally accepted by the mainstream scientific community. All other proposals, including beliefs that some UFOs are of extraterrestrial origin (see extraterrestrial hypothesis) and claims of alien abduction, are considered hypothetical by most scientists. In 2006, New Scientist published a list of ten controversial pieces of evidence that extraterrestrial life exists, but scientists do not consider them credible since no direct observational evidence has been encountered.

Do you believe in extraterrestrial life forms?
Q. I'm writing a persuasive speech on the topic and I'd like to begin with a show of hands, but I'm hoping I won't get a disarmingly unexpected answer. Do you believe in extraterrestrial life forms? What? Why did you report this question, answerer number 4? Obviously the three answerers before you thought it was legitimate. Enjoy your day...

A. Yes, but I think intelligent life forms are extremely rare (research Rare Earh hypothesis for more information).

What are your theories on extraterrestrial life and what they might look like?
Q. Since God created everything (I don't care if you believe He didn't) if there are alien populated planets, He would have made them in His image also right? I believe that they would look like us but would be either taller or shorted base on the planets size and gravitational pull. What do you think? Yes regulus I do believe. I didn't ask you to debate or question my beliefs, I asked you about appearances of aliens.

A. As for what we have been conditioned to call aliens , they are actually called "watchers" or "sons of God". Ancient antediluvian depictions of them before their imprisonment [2 Peter 2:4 / Jude 6]: Recent sighting, after Phil Schneider and the boys dug them up [Amos 9:2]: The suicided hero that thought he dug up aliens that wreaked of sulfur: You can read more about them in Genesis 6 and the books of Enoch, Jasher, and Jubilees. They do plan on pretending to be "aliens" soon as told of in 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12. All this just in time for 2012. Billions will fall for it, but you won't because we are talking about it here and now before it even happens. I highly recommend the movie KNOWING.

Would you still believe in God if we found extraterrestrial life?
Q. If we came into contact with intelligent life somewhere else in the universe and those aliens didn't believe in God, would there be any way to rationalize your beliefs? I mean, if God created everything, wouldn't they be his creations, too? Wouldn't he had to have made a sacrifice for their sins? And don't just answer with "There are no aliens." I'm saying this as a hypothetical.

A. Of course they wouldn't believe in God. Why would aliens know anything about a man made deity? Now, if they DID believe in God, then I would reconsider my beliefs (atheism). And about your last point, "there are no aliens" I'd like to point out that there most certainly are. No, not little green men, real aliens will be nothing like anything we could ever imagine. Evolution happened on Earth and there's no evidence that it couldn't happen anywhere else.
